At EdUHK, we embrace diversity and cultivate an inclusive campus culture where every individual is valued, respected, and supported. The University is committed to fostering a welcoming environment for students and staff from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable opportunities for research, work, study and personal development.

Diverse Community Engagement

The University celebrates diversity through various initiatives that promote cross-cultural understanding and meaningful engagement. These include:

Diversity & Inclusion Student Ambassador Scheme

The Diversity & Inclusion Student Ambassador Scheme aims to encourage active engagement and foster peer support and integration among EdUHK students, both with and without special educational needs (SEN). The ambassadors receive training to enhance their understanding of inclusivity and develop leadership skills. They act as role models, organise events, and advocate for accessibility and equity on campus.

Cultural Showcase

Cultural Showcase is an event to promote internationalisation on campus and facilitate integration among students.  Local students as well as students from different countries and regions showcased their unique cultures through fashion show, dynamic dance performance and a variety of booths with their local food and games.

Buddy Programme

As part of the University’s ongoing efforts to create a culturally diversified yet cohesive campus, the Buddy Programme, organised by the Global Affairs Office (GAO), provides EdUHK students with a platform to broaden social networks while staying on campus and make friends with incoming students all over the world.

Learn Globally@EdUHK

Intercultural activities are regularly organised under the theme of “Learn Globally@EdUHK” to promote internationalisation on campus and support the integration of local and non-local students.

Diversity Festival

The Diversity Festival aims to celebrate within the EdUHK community. The Festival brings together students, staff, and the community to foster respect, acceptance, and appreciation for students with SEN through a range of activities.

SEN-friendly Activities

To strengthen the support network for students with SEN and achieve the goal of integration, SAO organises various inclusive activities, including SEN experiential activities, sharing sessions, handcraft workshops and art workshops conducted by people with different disabilities/SEN, etc.

Cantonese Buddy Scheme

The Scheme aims to promote Cantonese language learning on the campus, enabling non-Cantonese-speaking students to form close bonds with Cantonese-speaking students.

Staff Engagement Activities (Staff login required)

At EdUHK, staff engagement is a key priority. We regularly organise staff relation activities and interest classes that promote camaraderie, well-being, and a sense of belonging among staff members. These initiatives not only foster a positive work environment but also help to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Student and Staff Communities

EdUHK is home to a vibrant community, with numerous student and staff associations that cater to a wide range of interests, cultures and disciplines.
