About
As our University community becomes increasingly diverse, cultural awareness and effective communication are essential in fostering a respectful, inclusive and welcoming campus environment. This workshop will explore the importance of cultural sensitivity in educational settings and provide practical strategies for interacting with individuals from different cultural backgrounds. It is especially suitable for colleagues who frequently interact with students, staff, visitors and external stakeholders.
Through interactive discussions and real-life examples, participants will gain a better understanding of cultural diversity, recognise the impact of unconscious bias, and learn practical approaches to cross-cultural communication.
Objectives
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Understand the importance of cultural awareness and sensitivity in educational settings;
- Recognise different cultural perspectives and communication styles;
- Identify common unconscious biases and their impact on workplace interactions; and
- Learn practical strategies to communicate respectfully across cultures.
